Excessive sweating on particular parts of body such as palms, foot, armpit, and face are considered as local hyperhidrosis. It can be caused by stress or emotions. Although, it is not a serious health problem but apocrine gland situated on armpit may cause bad odor when infected, thus medical treatment is strongly advised.

Botox blocks neurotransmitters. Thus, when injected on hyperhidrosis area, it prevents sweat gland from secreting acetylcholine and it leads to reduction in sweat. The treatment finishes quickly and the patient is able to go back to everyday life immediately. The effect remains about 5-6 months.

Armpit, Palm, and Sole Hyperhidrosis : Local Anesthesia or Cooling Anesthesia Botox will be divided into 10~30 shots and injected shallowly.

Other treatment methods : Internal Medicine Treatment

Taking oral drug or applying local ointment could be another approach to treat hyperhidrosis. You may find quicker result but usually the effect is temporary with the possibility of side effect, so it is recommended to be used on only special cases.

Sympathectomy

The treatment of Hyperhidrosis by surgery is the most effective method for blocking sweat secretion, so it is recommended to patients who find other treatments ineffective. However, there could be side effects such as compensatory hyperhidrosis on the other body parts.
