17Anti-aging Precautions
PRE OPERATION
-Medicines that interfere with blood circulation (birth control, hormonal medicine, vitamin E, aspirin, etc.) should not be taken for at least 2 weeks before surgery. If you have high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes,are getting thyroid treatment, please tell the consultant and doctor before surgery.
-Smoking can affect saliva, sneezing, and also cause bleeding after surgery. It is strongly recommended to stop smoking for at least 3 days before surgery. Furthermore, on the day of surgery if you have a bad cold and difficulty breathing, please inform the consultant and doctor before your surgery.
-On the day of surgery it is recommended to carefully wash your entire body with gentle soap. Contact lenses, jewelry, accessories, manicure, makeup, etc. can interfere with the surgery and should be removed before arriving to the clinic.
-Fasting, including water, gum, candy, and anything else that can be eaten should be done 4 hours before surgery (8 hours if the procedure requires anesthesia).
-You should wear comfortable clothes that will not aggravate the surgical areas (please wear loose button-down shirts), mask, scarf, hat, sunglasses, and etc. should also be prepared. After surgery it may be difficult to drive, therefore it is recommended to have a guardian accompany you to the clinic.

POST OPERATION
-For the first 3 days after treatment, eat foods that are non-inflammatory (spicy, salty, greasy, etc.) It is recommended to avoid crunchy foods while recovering.
-*For lifting procedures: Right after surgery use ice pack massage to reduce swelling. After 3 days switch to hot pack massage.
-For 4 weeks much rest and Vitamin C is required to aid the healing process. Also for about 4 weeks do not laughopen your mouth too wide.
-For 4 weeks after treatment, you should sleep lying on your back. Place 2-3 pillows on your back while sleeping, this aids in comfortable swelling recovery. Always sleep straight on your back, do not sleep on your side. Avoid intense activities like swimming for at least 6 weeks. (*In case of fat grafting: avoid massages and intense activity for 1-2 months)
-Smoking and drinking is prohibited for at least 4 weeks.

After surgery, complications such as bleeding, infections, and inflammation may occur.
16Two Jaw Surgery Discharge Precautions
FACIAL SWELLING (degree of swelling can vary by individual)
-After discharge, hot/ice pack massage will not be done.
-Big swollen areas usually begin to subside after 1-2 weeks.
Over a 1 month period, swelling will move through the chin to the bottom of the neck.
-Swollen areas between the muscle will start to subside after 2-3 months and facial outline will begin to appear.
-During recovery, if any subsequent painswelling occurs, please contact the clinic immediately.
Swelling will move through the chin to the bottom of the neck.
This is the normal swelling disappearing process and should not be worried about.
While healing, if any subsequent painswelling occurs please contact the clinic immediately.

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
-Saunas and bathhouses are prohibited for 4 weeks.
-Cheekbone reduction patients, hair washing can be started after the first postoperative visit and stitch removal.
-Hair washing is possible after putting waterproof bandage on the surgical areas.
-Tape under the chin can be removed 2-3 days after surgery while showering.
Tape on the forehead can also be removed 2~3 days after surgery.
-Face washing is possible. However if swelling remains, please do not apply pressure and wash face gently.
(Facial massages are prohibited).
-Light shower and hair washing is possible 1-2 days after surgery.
Hair washing should be gently done standing while keeping the head up under supervised care.

DIET
-The day after surgery, liquid food diet can start.
-Fruits should be blended with the seeds removed. Be sure no solid parts remain after blending.
-Carbonated drinks and coffee are allowed after 6 weeks.
Alcohol and smoking is prohibited for at least 6 weeks after surgery.
-After the first postoperative visit, wires will be removed and mouth opening exercise (physical therapy) will be started.
-Rice gruel, soup, soy milk, dairy products, fruit juice, beef bone stock and foods that are not spicy, salty are allowed.
Non-solid and non-greasy varieties of soups are allowed.
-Starting the 2nd week. Rice porridge, tofu, steamed eggs and similar easy to digest foods are allowed.
(Depending on the surgery the duration could be 16 days) Rice and soft food is allowed 4 weeks after surgery.
Rice rolls, apples, pears-similar fruits, soft chicken breast and similar foods can be eaten 2 months after surgery.
Peanuts, radishes and other crunchy/chewy foods can be eaten 3 months after surgery.

TOOTH BRUSHING AND MOUTHWASH(Hexidine mouthwash should be mixed with water in a 1:1 ratio)
-Stitches in the mouth can rupture so never make chewing motions while rinsing.
-Use Hexidine mouthwash while tooth brushing. Toothpaste can be used two weeks after stitch removal.
-Tooth brushing is recommended to be done with a children’s toothbrush (soft and short bristles).
However, a normal toothbrush can also be used.
Tooth brushing should be done very gently, avoiding the gums and softly between the teeth and wires.

SLEEPING
-In case of swelling remaining, and before the first postoperative visit the body should be raised 15 degrees
while sleeping. This aids in comfortable breathing and swelling reduction.
2-3 cushions, pillows,blankets placed on the back while sleeping is recommended.
-When breathing becomes comfortable, sleeping normally is possible.
While sleeping, be careful the face is not compressed on a pillow. Please use a neck pillow.

STUFFY NOSE INSTRUCTIONS
-Blowing your nose is prohibited for 4 weeks after surgery.
-7-10 days after surgery, blood from the nasal cavity can come out while mouth washing.
This is a normal part of the healing process and should not be worried about.
-If the nose becomes extremely stuffy use a wet cotton swab to clean the inside of the nose.
Then, spray Otrivin inside each nostril.
** Otrivin is available without prescription. Otrivin should be used in 12 hour intervals and 7 days maximum.
If Otrivin is used for more than one week, side effects such as inflammation, bleeding, swelling, dryness, headache,
fever can occur.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION
-Prescription medication is taken for one week. No further prescription will be given.
-If pain persists in the surgical area after one week, a prescription painkiller (Tylenol syrup) will be taken once.
If pain continues purchase Carol-F syrup from the pharmacy and take as instructed. (1 dosage amount)
The prescribed antibiotic (Cefaclor) can cause diarrhea-like symptoms.
-If diarrhea persists more than 5 times a day you feel abdominal pains, contact the clinic.
When symptoms subside resume taking medication.
-Keep in mind that diarrhea can also be caused by excessive dairy consumption.

OTHER PRECAUTIONS
-3 weeks after discharge, mouth opening practice should be actively done to prevent frog mouth symptoms.
(You may experience discomfort in muscle movement, this will improve over time,
mouth opening should be consistently done for 3~6 months.)
-Often use of the lip and facial muscles aids in swelling reduction and muscle recovery.
-Light walking and similar activity is recommended. Intense activity is possible after one month.
15Paranasal Augmentation Discharge Precautions
DIET
-1~2 days after discharge, porridge and similar foods can be eaten. Normal diet can begin after 3 days.
-Avoiding inflammatory foods such as spicy, salty, and greasy foods is recommended.
-Carbonated drinks and coffee are allowed after stitch removal, alcohol and smoking is prohibited for 1 month after surgery.

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
-Face washing should be done gently while avoiding pressure, and be sure to not get the surgical area wet.
-Light shower is possible but avoid long hot showers, saunas are prohibited for 1 month.

TOOTH BRUSHING AND MOUTHWASH (Betadine mouthwash should be mixed with water in a 1:1 ratio)
-For 1 day after surgery, rinse mouth with water and antiseptic mouthwash. Then, brush with a soft bristle toothbrush.
-Toothpaste can be used starting the 2nd day after surgery.
-Mouthwash should be used consistently used for 5~6 days.

SLEEPING
-In case of swelling remaining, the body should be raised 15 degrees while sleeping.
This aids in comfortable swelling reduction.
-2-3 cushions, pillows,blankets placed on the back while sleeping is recommended.
-Do not let your head drop. Avoid applying pressure on the surgical area. You should sleep lying on your back.

FACIAL SWELLING (degree of swelling can vary by individual)


-Swelling will start to subside after 1 week. 2~3 days after discharge, ice pack massage is required.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONSTUFFY NOSE INSTRUCTIONS
-Take medication for the prescribed number of days.
Medication should be taken 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals.
-Painkillers will be prescribed only when pain is present and should be taken in 8~10 hour intervals.
-Prescribed medication can be changed.

OTHER PRECAUTIONS
-Smoking and drinking is prohibited for 1 month after surgery.
-Light activity is advised, intense activity is possible after one month. (Walking and similar activity is recommended)

** Dissolvable medical thread is used during surgery and will naturally dissolve over time. If accidentally swallowed,
no bodily harm will be done. If thread remains after 2 weeks, please visit and the clinic will remove it.
14Nose Discharge Precautions
DIET
-Normal diet can be started after discharge.
Avoiding inflammatory foods such as spicy, salty, and greasy foods is recommended.
-Carbonated drinks and coffee are allowed after stitch removal, alcohol and smoking is prohibited for 2 weeks after surgery.

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
-Light showering is available the day of surgery. However, saunas should be avoided for one month after surgery.
-Face washing and make up is possible the day after stitch removal.

SLEEPING
-In case of swelling remaining, the body should be raised 15 degrees while sleeping. This aids in swelling reduction.
-2-3 cushions, pillows,blankets placed on the back while sleeping is recommended.
-When breathing becomes comfortable, sleeping normally is allowed.
While sleeping make sure the face is not pressed against the pillow, use a neck pillow
and lay flat on your back while sleeping.

-Ice pack massage 2-3 days. (Forehead, eye, cheeks, cheekbone)
-Bruising and swelling will usually begin to subside after 1-2 weeks.

-Take medication for the prescribed number of days. Medication should be taken 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals.
-Painkillers will be prescribed only when pain is present and should be taken in 8~10 hour intervals.

AFTER DISCHARGE MANAGEMENTSTUFFY NOSE INSTRUCTIONS
-Glasses can be worn one month after discharge.
-Exercise is possible but be careful not to bumpput stress on the nose. Considering these limitations,
cardio exercise is recommended.
-Activities that can irritate the inside of your nose such as blowing your nose excessivelypicking at the nose with
a cotton swab should be avoided. Nose secretions, secretions from the scarred area should not be forcibly removed.

** In the following cases, please contact and visit the clinic **
Sudden swelling of the nose, redness in nose painful on touch,burning sensation occurs please schedule a visit.
13Hip-up Discharge Precautions
DIET
-8 hours after surgery, meals are possible but avoid inflammatory foods (spicy, salty, greasy foods).
-Carbonated drinks and coffee is prohibited until stitch removal. Smoking and alcohol is prohibited for one month.

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
-Light showering is possible the day after stitch removal, saunas and public bath houses are prohibited for one month.

SLEEPING
-For 2~3 weeks, you should sleep on your side.
-While sitting down, make the sure implant is not compressed, use a cushion and be careful when seated.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONSTUFFY NOSE INSTRUCTIONS
-Medication should be taken 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals.
-Painkillers will be prescribed only when pain is present and should be taken in 8~10 hour intervals.

AFTER DISCHARGE MANAGEMENT
-A special symptom of this surgery is discomfort while walking and sitting for 2~3 weeks.
-Leave the surgery area as it is, and do not randomly remove the tape from the area.
-3~5 days after the first postoperative visits, the hemovac (blood pocket) will be removed and depending on the
amount, differences can occur.
-After discharge, the hemovac will first be emptied after 4 hours, if the emptied volume is over 40cc then the hemovac
will be emptied again after 4 hours. If the volume is less than 40cc then it will be emptied every 8 hours.
(after hemovac is emptied, once again check the lock valve in the middle line to make sure it is open.
The valve must be in the open position)
-The amount of blood will be checked by a needle, please write it down and bring on postoperative visit day.
-Intense activities (golf, swimming, tennis, aerobics) should not be done for 1 month after surgery.
12General Discharge Precautions
DIET
-1~2 days after discharge start liquid food diet (porridge and similar soft foods) should be eaten while avoiding
crunchyhard foods
-Non irritating and non-greasy foods are allowed.
-Carbonated drinks and coffee are allowed 2 weeks after discharge, alcohol and smoking is prohibited for 2 weeks after surgery.

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
-When face washing, make sure water does not enter the surgical part and do not rub hard but clean gently (use wet tissues)
-Showering is available the day of surgery.
However, hot saunaspublic bathhouses should be avoided for 2 weeks after surgery.

SLEEPING
-In case of swelling remaining, the body should be raised 15 degrees while sleeping.
This aids in comfortable swelling reduction.
-2-3 cushions, pillows,blankets placed on the back while sleeping is recommended.
-Lay flat while sleeping while avoiding lowering the neck and/or the surgical area getting pressed.

FACIAL SWELLING (degree of swelling can vary by individual)
-Swelling begins to subside after 1 week. Use a cold pack for 2-3 days after discharge.
-Facial bandage should be kept on until ( )day and afterwards does not need to be used.
-If facial bandage causes headaches, momentarily undoing and redoing the bandage is allowed.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONSTUFFY NOSE INSTRUCTIONS
-Take medication for the prescribed number of days.
Medication should be taken 3 times in 1 day, 30 minutes after meals.
-Painkillers will be prescribed only when pain is present and should be taken in 8~10 hour intervals.
11Fat grafting Discharge Precautions
DIET
-Normal diet can be started after discharge.
Avoiding inflammatory foods such as spicy, salty, and greasy foods is recommended.
-Carbonated drinks and coffee are allowed after stitch removal,
alcohol and smoking is prohibited for 1 month after surgery.

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
-2~3 days after facial compressive bandage is removed, light face washing, bb cream, and sun lotion is allowed.
-In case of fat removal, shower is possible after 7 days and after stitch removal, sauna is possible after 4 weeks.
-If stitches are present in the face, face washing is possible (2~3 days) after stitch removal.
-Showering is possible after covering the surgical area with waterproof tape.

SLEEPING
-In case of swelling remaining, the body should be raised while sleeping, aiding swelling reduction.
-Avoid applying pressure by not sleeping facedown.

FACIAL SWELLING (degree of swelling can vary by individual)
-Ice pack massage is prohibited on the fat inserted area.
-Do not do facial massages.
-Asymmetry can occur naturally due to swelling. Please wait a few days.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION
-Take medication for the prescribed number of days. Medication should be taken 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals.
-Painkillers will be prescribed only when pain is present and should be taken in 8~10 hour intervals.

AFTER DISCHARGE MANAGEMENTSTUFFY NOSE INSTRUCTIONS
-Light activity is advised, intense activity is possible after one month. (Walking and similar activity is recommended)
10Facial Contouring Discharge Precautions
FACIAL SWELLING (degree of swelling can vary by individual)
-Ice pack massage should be done continuously for 2~3 days after discharge.
-Blowing the nose is prohibited for 3 weeks after discharge.
-The white bandage will be worn 24 hours, the 1st day after surgery. The next 2~3 days, only wear at night.
-Big swollen areas usually begin to subside after 1-2 weeks.
Over a 1 month period, swelling will move through the chin to the bottom of the neck.
-For 7~10 days after surgery, blood from the nasal cavity can appear while lowering the headusing mouthwash.
This is normal and should not be worried about.
-Please be aware that careless and excessive use of the compression bandage can cause scalp damage, and hair loss can occur.

SLEEPING
-When breathing becomes comfortable, sleeping normally is possible.
-While sleeping, be careful the face is not compressed on a pillow. Please use a neck pillow.
-2-3 cushions, pillows,blankets placed on the back while sleeping is recommended.
-In case of swelling remaining, the body should be raised 15 degrees while sleeping.
This aids in comfortable swelling reduction.

TOOTH BRUSHING AND MOUTHWASH (Hexidine mouthwash should be mixed with water in a 1:1 ratio)
-After discharge until the 2nd postoperative visit (before stitch removal) mouthwash gargle is started.
-Mouth rinsing should be done with water 7 times, hexidine 3 times.
Mouth should be filled with mouthwash and head should be tilted to the left and right.
-Stitches in the mouth can rupture so never make chewing motions while rinsing.
-Hexidine mouthwash should be used for 1 week after discharge. Starting the 2nd week, regular mouthwash can be used.
-7 days after discharge, tooth brushing is possible. Tooth brushing should be done with a kid toothbrush
(short and soft bristles) avoiding the gums and softly brushing the teeth.

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
-Tape under the chin can be removed 2 days after discharge while face washing.
-Saunas and bathhouses are prohibited for 1 month.
-Face washing is possible. Gentle washing and be sure not to apply pressure to swollen areas. (facial massages prohibited)
-Hair washing should be gently done standing up while keeping the head upunder supervised care.
-Hair washing and light shower is available after discharge.
For cheekbone reduction patients, hair washing is possible after the first postoperative visit and stitch removal.
-For cheekbone reduction patients, with stitches present in the facial area, hair washing is possible with waterproof bandage put on.

DIET
-Crunchy/hard foods should be avoided.
-Carbonated drinks and coffee are allowed after one month,
alcohol and smoking is prohibited for 1 month after surgery.
-Avoid inflammatory foods such as spicy, salty, greasy, and food with chunks.
-Fruits with the seeds removed can be blended for easier intake. Banana and milk blended together is highly recommended.
-1-2 days after discharge begin clear liquid diet (honey water, juice, milk, yogurt, rice gruel),
3-4 days begin full liquid diet (porridge and similar foods), 5-6 days begin normal diet (soft foods).

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION
-Medication should be taken 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals.
-Prescription medication is only prescribed in 10 day dosage. No further prescription will be given.
-Please be informed that excessive dairy intake can lead to diarrhea.
-Painkillers will be prescribed only when pain is present and should be taken in 8~10 hour intervals.

OTHER PRECAUTIONS
-3 weeks after discharge, mouth opening practice should be actively done to prevent frog mouth symptoms.

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
-Light showering is available the day of surgery.
However, hot saunaspublic bathhouses should be avoided for 2 weeks after surgery.
-Face washing is available day after stitch removal. (eye mucus can be cleaned with a cotton swab.)
-Concerning make up, eye shadow should be used at least 3-4 days after stitch removal.

SLEEPING
-In case of swelling remaining, the body should be raised while sleeping.
-Avoid pressure on eyes by not sleeping facedown, instead sleep lying on your back.

SLEEPING

-Please do not put pressure on your eyesrub them.
-Ice pack massage 3-4 days is recommended for better results.
-Depending on the surgery, the dural sac can swell and appear red. This will subside over time.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION
-Take medication for the prescribed number of days (prescribed days can vary depending on surgical area.)
Medication should be taken 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals.
-Painkillers will be prescribed only when pain is present and should be taken in 8~10 hour intervals.
-In case of prescription eye drops, these should be administered 4 times a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, before sleeping).
-Prescribed medication can be changed.

OTHER PRECAUTIONS
-Light activity is advised, intense activity is possible after one month. (Walking and similar activity is recommended)
** If feelings of irritation occur in the surgical area, please contact and visit the clinic.
8Breast Reduction Discharge Precautions
DIET
-Normal diet can be started 8 hours after discharge.
Avoiding inflammatory foods (such as spicy, salty, and greasy foods) is recommended.
-Carbonated drinks and coffee are allowed after stitch removal, alcohol and smoking is prohibited for 1 month after surgery.

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
-Light showering is available the day after stitch removal. Saunas should be avoided for one month after surgery.
-Hair washing should be done with help from a guardian;
hair washing should be done like a hair salon and arms should be used as minimally as possible.

SLEEPING
-(In case of drainage tube) arm usage will be difficult therefore to not put undue force on the arms while getting up
the body should be raised 15 degrees while sleeping. This aids in swelling reduction.
-2-3 cushions, pillows,blankets placed on the back while sleeping is recommended.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION
-Take medication for the prescribed number of days. Medication should be taken 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals.

-After hemovac is removed, a compressive bandage is worn 1-2 weeks. Afterwards, a sports bra
(3 month use) will be fastened and used. (Depending on the patient this can change, please follow the clinic instructions.)
-After stitch removal, to minimize scarring a duoderm tape will be attached for 1 month (scar ointment will be applied)
-Tape should be replaced every 5~7 days, the scar area should be gathered and taped.
In case the taped area becomes irritated (itchy, becomes red case)you feel discomfort,
for 1~2 days apply ointment to soothe affected area and reapply the tape.
-Intense activities (golf, swimming, tennis, aerobics) should not be done for 1 month after surgery.

DIET
-Normal diet can be started 8 hours after discharge.
Avoiding inflammatory foods such as spicy, salty, and greasy foods is recommended.
-Carbonated drinks and coffee are allowed after stitch removal, alcohol and smoking is prohibited for 1 month after surgery.
