What is Nipple Surgery?
If the nipple is retracted or abnormally big, then nipple surgery is necessary for an ideal nipple shape. Nipple surgery corrects nipples that are retracted within the breast and reduces nipples that are abnormally big. Nipples are not only for aesthetic purposes but are also functionally responsible for breast feeding. Nipple surgery at WONJIN is necessary to correct nipple abnormalities.
Recommended for those who
  1. 1. Have nipple retraction or need nipple reduction
  2. 2. Have functional breastfeeding problems
  3. 3. Have infection due to nipple retraction
  4. 4. Have aesthetically unpleasant nipples

Nipple Reduction Surgical Method

METHOD 01 Technique of preserving mammary duct (Breastfeeding is possible)

  • Case of wide papilla – to reduce the width of the nipple

Incise partial area of nipple and suture it.

  • Case of long papilla – to reduce the length of the nipple

Incise partial skin of the root of nipple (avoid damaging mammary duct), suture the nipple with the areola.

  • METHOD 02 Technique of NOT preserving mammary duct (Breastfeeding is impossible)

V-incision method – to reduce the length/size of the nipple

Incise the tip of nipple in a shape of the letter V and suture it; It can reduce both overall size and length of the nipple but breastfeeding would be impossible after this surgery.

Inverted Nipple Surgical Method

METHOD 01 Technique of preserving mammary duct

To avoid damaging the nipple, the smallest incision is made; only appropriate for slightly inverted cases and there is a slight chance of relapse.
